AI lecture summarizer: turn long lectures into study notes

By the Luminar team · Updated

Short answer: an AI lecture summarizer turns a recorded lecture into the main ideas, with the minute each one starts. Use it to preview a lecture before you watch, and to review after. It works best alongside your own notes.

Before the lecture

Summarize the recording first. Knowing the outline makes the lecture easier to follow, and you can spend more attention on the hard parts.

After the lecture

Compare your notes with the summary. Anything in the summary that is missing from your notes is a gap to fill. Click the timestamp to rewatch just that part.

Lectures in another language

Luminar can write the summary in 16 languages, so a lecture in English can be summarized in Español, Deutsch or 日本語, and the other way round.

Audio recordings

Recorded the class on your phone? Upload the audio file to the Luminar web app. Free accounts can summarize 2 audio files a month, up to 30 minutes each.

Questions people ask

Is it cheating to use a summarizer?

A summary helps you study and find what to review. It does not replace learning the material, and many teachers are fine with it. Check your school's rules.

Can I ask questions about the lecture?

Yes. Luminar lets you ask follow up questions about any summary.
