How to summarize a YouTube video in another language

By the Luminar team ยท Updated

Short answer: you do not need to understand the video's language. Paste the link into an AI summarizer and choose the language you want the summary in. Luminar writes summaries in 16 languages.

1. Why not just use subtitles?

Auto translated subtitles help, but you still have to sit through the whole video. A summary in your language gives you the main points first, so you can decide if it is worth watching.

2. Paste the link

Copy the video's address from YouTube and paste it into Luminar. Or press Summarize under the video with the Chrome extension.

3. Pick your language

Choose the language for the summary. Luminar reads the video in its own language and writes the briefing in yours. You can switch the language later and get the same briefing rewritten.

4. Check names and terms

Names, places and special terms are where translations slip. Each point in the summary links to the moment it came from, so you can check anything that looks odd.

5. Ask in your language

You can ask follow up questions in your own language too, even when the video is in another one.
